Fair Tax
The current tax system, created in 1913, is too burdensome, far too
complicated, miserably outdated, punishes success, rewards failure and
limits America's potential for prosperity. Our corporate tax rate is
one of the highest in the world. Individual marginal tax rates are
growing at an alarming rate. Our tax code is used to reward and punish
personal behavior. The cost of compliance is growing out of control.
The answer isn't higher taxes or more IRS agents...the answer is less
taxes not more. As the next Congressman from the 9th District,
reforming our tax system and reducing the tax burden on all Americans
would be my top priority. It must be reformed by eliminating the
current tax structure, reducing the federal bureaucracy needed to
enforce the existing tax code by abolishing the IRS as we know it and
replacing the entire system with a fairer, flatter, simpler and easier
to understand system that is pro-growth and pro-jobs.
As a
member of the Ways and Means committee in the Georgia House, I am the
most experienced candidate on tax policy in the race. I have always
supported tax reform that focuses on simplification and fairness. I
support the Fair Tax because America's prosperity would improve
dramatically if we converted to a transparent and voluntary tax
structure that doesn't penalize wealth accumulation. The ultimate goal
should be to spread the burden equally with voluntary inputs and easy
compliance. However, good tax policy can only be accomplished when
coupled with good spending policy. Our tax system should not be used to
feed the beast of growing government spending.
