America faces many difficult challenges
and we won't be any stronger or better prepared for what lies ahead if
we continue down the road of reckless spending and leave the bill for
future generations to pay. Because Congress has proven that it does not
exercise restraint when it comes to opening the federal wallet, we are
left with more than $1 trillion in budget deficits that now plague our
nation. That's nearly $47,000 for every man, woman and child in our
country. We must practice disciplined and responsible spending of
taxpayer dollars to ensure that we get ourselves out of the budget
deficit trap under which we've been placed in by D.C. elites. Learn MoreThe current tax system, created in 1913, is too burdensome, far too complicated, miserably outdated, punishes success, rewards failure and limits America's potential for prosperity. Our corporate tax rate is one of the highest in the world. Individual marginal tax rates are growing at an alarming rate. Our tax code is used to reward and punish personal behavior. The cost of compliance is growing out of control. The answer isn't higher taxes or more IRS agents...the answer is less taxes not more.
Learn MoreAmerica's
health care system is the finest in the world. However, with Americans living
longer and the rapid advancement of technology, the requirement for health care
is growing and the cost for care continues to rise. The cost of health
insurance has risen to the point that many families are unable to afford
adequate insurance coverage. The liberal leadership in Congress' answer to this
problem is a government-controlled universal health care system funded by the
taxpayers. Socialized medicine is a formula that will destroy the availability and accessibility of quality health care in America.
Learn More The recent scandals in Washington have eroded the public's trust in their elected officials. The American people are longing for Truth, Morality and Leadership. Congress must dedicate itself to serving the real needs of their constituents and strengthen the ethical standards in Washington to restore America's trust in the government that serves them.
Learn More In the summer of 2008, energy prices skyrocketed, costing Georgians hundreds of dollars more at the pump each month, yet Congress did nothing to increase the supply of oil. To meet America's increasing demand for energy and lessen our dependence on foreign oil, we must implement an energy policy that capitalizes on our own vast resources and American ingenuity and innovation.
Learn More Since
September 11, 2001, the United States has enacted many reforms, at home and
abroad, to secure our homeland, but unfortunately we've failed to meet the
challenge in dealing with the illegal immigration crisis. There are estimated
more than ten million illegal immigrants currently in the United States, many
with criminal convictions that have received final deportation orders and we
are unable to find them. While America's immigration system is badly in need of
repair, I oppose any reforms that disregard our current immigration laws or
grant amnesty to individuals who've illegally entered the United States. I
support reforms to fix a broken system by strengthening our borders and
providing more resources, technology and training to the Department of Homeland
Security and the Border Patrol to keep illegal immigrants out of our country. Learn More North Georgia's conservative values are a product of our family and faith where we are taught to stand firm on principle, to do the right thing and to fight for the things we believe in. Our families count on our leaders to defend our conservative North Georgia values when they come under attack in our courts and in Washington. I'll always be there to defend the sanctity of human life, traditional marriage and our right to prayer.
Learn More The right to bear arms is enshrined in the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Sportsmen, hunters, gun enthusiasts and citizens concerned for their personal safety are guaranteed the right to keep and bear arms. Yet this right is under constant attack by the Washington liberals appealing to a narrow constituency that wants to attack the symptoms, not the disease. Only a government that does not trust its citizens would refuse them the right to bear arms.
Learn More Education should be child centered and parent driven. My wife is a public school teacher so I know first hand the difficulties confronting our system today and that the best ideas for improvement come from places like Ranger, Gainesville, Dalton and Blue Ridge - not Washington, DC. Whether it's public or private...home or charter, parents are best able to select the right method of education for their child.
Learn More As we continue to fight and win the War on Terror, our national defense should be the country's top priority and maintaining our position as the world's leading military power is crucial to our success.
