Graves Raises Over $279,000 for Congressional Campaign

(Ranger, GA) – Republican State Representative Tom Graves (R-Ranger), candidate for the 9th Congressional District of Georgia, today filed his 3rd Quarter fundraising report with the Federal Election Commission that showed receipts of $279,450 for his campaign.  The disclosure also reported $162,910 raised for the quarter and $193,996 remaining cash-on-hand.  The campaign has no debt.

The Graves campaign said it received contributions from 753 contributors from all 15 counties in the 9th Congressional District.  All funds reported were raised and there are no loans to the campaign from the candidate.

“The overwhelming response we continue to receive from voters all across the district is absolutely incredible,” said Graves.  “North Georgians are joining the campaign daily because they are concerned with the direction this Congress is taking our country and want a proven leader who is willing to fight to restore and reclaim the freedoms and liberty that have made this country great.  Because of their commitment, we were able to not only meet our goals, but exceed them.”

The FEC requires candidates for federal office to periodically file campaign finance reports.  The report Graves filed today covered the period of July 1 through September 30, 2009.

Overall, the Graves campaign continues to grow momentum by having the most productive quarter of any of the candidates in the race.  During the last 90 days, Graves:

•    Recognized as a “National Legislator of the Year” from the American Legislative Exchange Council;
•    Hosted the 4th Annual Corn Roast, the largest political event for a 9th District Congressional candidate this election cycle and one of the largest events in the district;
•    Demonstrated a commanding knowledge of the issues at the Carpet and Rug Institute candidate forum in Dalton;
•    Dominated the only straw poll in the district, winning with over 54 percent of the vote;
•    Spoke before millions at the 9-12 National Taxpayer March on Washington and Tea Party;
•    And was endorsed by the Club for Growth.

Earlier this month Graves was named to Georgia Trend’s “40 under 40” Most Influential Georgians, and his campaign continues to have the largest online presence of any candidate in the congressional race.  His campaign currently has over 350 grassroots volunteers and is organized in all 15 counties of the district.

Graves announced last May that he would seek the 9th District congressional seat left open by Congressman Nathan Deal’s decision to run for Governor.
